Key Lime Sunflower
I grew some sunflowers this year with the hope of taking some interesting shots. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out and they have been somewhat disappointing, ravaged by ants and aphids, wind and rain.
However, although they are looking a little ragged from the front, I think they are a little more interesting at the back. I particularly like the layers of green and the pattern they create – perhaps I should zoom in on this part – maybe. I also like the light through the petals which shows the stripes off in a way that you don’t get with a standard shot from the front. They also say that you shouldn’t photograph flowers in bright sunlight – I sometimes disagree.
A nice picture, maybe not one that will set the world on fire, but a different take on a sunflower. My trusty macro lens was employed once more, ISO 100 (bright day and pale flower), 1/200 secs, f/9.0.
