    Geranium

I took this shot when visiting my mother. I had not expected to take any photos as she is not a gardener, but it had been raining, the sun had come out and the bees were buzzing on some nearby campanula. I had initially intended to take some more bee shots, but this geranium caught my eye. I particularly liked the dark centre, and the vibrant magenta colour. I had initially cropped this in tighter to show just the central flower, but on reflection I liked the flower in the background as it mirrored the one in the foreground. I know that a judge in a photography competition would probably consider that there was too much background, but this is the finished picture I have settled on. What do you think?
Photo was taken on a Canon IXUS 60, macro setting, 5.8mm, 1/500, ISO 200, f/5.6.
